Stamp Duty Land Tax is paid when you buy a home in England or Northern Ireland. It is charged in bands, so each rate only applies to the part of the price in that band.
First-time buyers pay nothing on the first £300,000 and 5% on the part up to £500,000. Above £500,000, the relief is lost and standard rates apply.
If you will own more than one home, an extra 5% is added to every band. Non-UK residents pay a further 2% on top.
| Price band | Rate |

| Up to £125,000 | 0% |
